Company Summary

Spirit Airlines, a leader in low-cost air travel, aimed to overhaul its mobile app to provide travelers with an intuitive, feature-rich platform for bookings, check-ins, and travel management.

 

Challenge

The existing app was outdated, lacking modern features and accessibility. User frustrations stemmed from poor navigation, a cluttered interface, and limited functionality. The airline required a mobile-first app that was easy to use, visually engaging, and aligned with Native iOS and Android technologies.

Solution

The redesign process began with thorough user research, contextual inquiries, and competitive analysis to identify gaps and benchmark best practices. Personas and journey maps were developed to address traveler needs across all stages of the journey, from booking to boarding. A mobile-first strategy was central to the project, ensuring the app delivered seamless functionality on smartphones and tablets.

Wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes underwent multiple rounds of user testing, focusing on accessibility and usability. Features such as simplified navigation, real-time updates, and personalized travel options were prioritized.
